Jul 27, 2012 Comments

Sometimes, when the right comedic talents come together on the big screen a classic can be born. Ghostbusters, Animal House, It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Clue and Airplane are just a few examples of cinematic comedies that became instant classics on the backs of their hilarious scripts and, perhaps more importantly, their pitch-perfect casts.

Comedians Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade are trying to achieve their own comedic nirvana with The Watch, a sci-fi comedy about a band of neighborhood watch nerds that stumble onto an alien plot to take over the world.  Each guy is a powerhouse performer on his own, but the question is will the mixture of four of them together create that rare comedic alchemy of which all ensemble comedies aspire?

Only box-office returns will determine the legacy of The Watch, so in the meantime we’ve selected some of the best comedy ensembles to grace the big screen in the 2000s that will assuredly make you laugh until you cry.
