Though Joe Wright injects dynamic visual and oral encounters into his films (the tapping typewriter in Atonement comes to mind), the filmmaker has gone a bit Baz Luhrmann or maybe Lars von Trier for his reunion with Keira Knightley. To unleash Leo Tolstoy's classic, Wright frames the film within a theater – played out almost entirely on a stage with moving set pieces, costume changes and stage lights. The consensus seems to be that it's flawed, but engaging. As a Keira Knightley period piece, it's sure to attract attention.
