Watch This Incredibly Sweet New Short Film From The Disney Artist Who Made 'Feast'

Pearl short film

Apparently if you give Disney animator Patrick Osborne six minutes to direct, he'll use them to pluck every heart string he can. He did that with Feast, the adorable short depicting a love story from the perspective of a puppy who eats everything. That premiered in front of Big Hero 6, a movie Osborne was also an animator on, and went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.

Now Osborne is back directing with Pearl, another six-minute short film that's as efficient and affecting as Feast. There's no puppy in this one, it's just a deceptively simple story about a father, his daughter, and the bond they share over the years. And the cool thing is you don't have to wait until the next big screen Disney movie to see it, either. It's online now as part of Google's Spotlight Stories series.

Pearl is actually a 360-degree short film, but you don't need a VR headset to experience it. Really, you don't even need to drag around the 360-degrees at all, though it does make you feel like more of a fly on the wall of their lives. You just need to press play and watch a loving, tender story that's bound to warm your heart.
