This is something I never thought I'd say after the first film, but I am genuinely interested in the story going on in Paranormal Activity. I was pleasantly surprised by how much usage PA2 got out of the "girl haunted by a demon" premise, and how it expanded the story by showing us what happened to Katie's family prior to the events of the first film. Sure, both movies are filled with jump scares and a fixed camera gimmick, but I respect that the franchise has become slightly more than just "found footage" scares.
And that's why I'm holding out hope for Paranormal Activity 3, directed by Catfish directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. We don't know much at this point, but going off of the teaser trailer that The Film Stage uncovered, the movie is set in the '80s and shows Katie and Kristi when they were just innocent little girls haunted by a demon. Ya' know, normal childhood stuff.
