If you’re in the market for a new car that’s guaranteed to turn heads wherever you go, we’ve got a deal for you.
Casey Putsch, of Putsch Racing, is running an eBay auction to sell off his custom built, fully driveable, street legal version of the 1989 Batmobile. Yes, for an opening bid of $620,000 you can cruise around town like a real-life version of Bruce Wayne. Just imagine the looks when you go hit up the drive-thru…
Putsch says what says his Batmobile apart from countless other prop versions and replicas is that it’s “the world’s only jet-turbine powered Batmobile.” Color us intrigued.
Built this year, the vehicle features a 365-horsepower Boeing turboshaft engine and an Apple iPad mounted in the dash for all your GPS and Internet surfing needs. The car is street legal in the state of Ohio – and video footage (included below) shows Putsch driving the car on some local streets. Unfortunately, there’s no highway footage, but the builder assures potential buyers that it’s just as comfortable on the open road as it is tooling around the neighborhood while running errands and fighting evil.
No word on what kind of mileage the Batmobile gets, but at least the new owner will have various fuel options. The car runs on jet fuel, kerosene, or diesel. Given that it features a jet turbine engine, it does sound a lot like an airplane – which could get annoying on a long drive. That’s a small price to pay for looking this cool.
In the eBay listing, Putsch says “Having a perfect reliability record, this car is ready to be enjoyed by an enthusiast who is looking for the ultimate luxury in one-upmanship." He also adds that "construction is in a completely different league than both replicas and of course the movie prop cars." Having seen the pics and clips, we’re inclined to agree. Serious bidders can get in contact with Putsch through his eBay listing. Poor folks who just want to gawk at the awesomeness can find more pics and videos here.
