If you were born before, say, 1995, chances are you probably love Paul Verhoeven's ultraviolent, deeply satirical RoboCop. And if so, chances are even better that you heard about Sony doing a PG-13 remake of it and rolled your eyes with complete disinterest, knowing full well the chances were very high it'd be like the glossy but humorless remake of Total Recall.
Well, we've got some good news for you: Someone else already remade RoboCop! And it's already got a trailer! It's called Our RoboCop Remake, and it's the result of crowd-sourcing different parts of the film to 50 different filmmakers in New York and Los Angeles, not unlike the fan favorite film Star Wars Uncut.
Now here's the more sobering reality: this doesn't exactly look any better than Sony's PG-13 remake. Then again, it's not exactly shooting for that, either. This is just a silly, do-it-on-the-weekends kind of movie project that's meant to be a love letter to the movie and nothing else. Or, as the end of this trailer puts it, "If anyone is going to ruin RoboCop, it's us."
Check it out, and if it looks like a project you'd like to keep a further eye on, head to OurRoboCopRemake.com for more details. [via @refocusedmedia]
