Watch: Paul Rudd Pitches Harvey Weinstein Some 'Our Idiot Brother' Marketing Suggestions

Aug 10, 2011

Looking to get some viral action on the upcoming Sundance hit Our Idiot Brother, The Weinstein Co. sacrificed their leader to the Funny or Die gods, teaming Harvey Weinstein up with Paul Rudd in a pitch meeting where the latter -- acting all bumbling and idiot-like -- infiltrates Harvey's office with a napkin full of marketing ideas for the movie. Reminiscent of the recent sketch for Crazy Stupid Love featuring Steve Carell pitching marketing types on ideas for the film's poster (which all involved his head being larger than everyone else's), watch as Rudd throws out one horrible idea after another as Harvey sits there stone faced.

It's a cute little video that hopefully gets the film stuck in your head as we build toward its August 26th release. This was one of my favorites back at Sundance -- a light, entertaining comedy featuring a great ensemble cast (Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer) that simply leaves you feeling good. Unlike some of the other summer comedies, it doesn't rely on F-bombs or gross-out gags to get its laughs; instead, it puts a lot of faith in its cast  -- and especially Paul Rudd -- who delivers what is perhaps his most endearing performance.

Watch the viral video and the film's trailer below.
