Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosted the Oscars last year, and to put it quite simply, it just didn't work. The Academy hoped to draw the attention of a younger audience, but with Franco's aloof coolness and Hathaway's chipper shrill the chemistry was completely mismatched and uncomfortable to watch.
In the middle of the whole mess, Billy Crystal made an appearance, was welcomed with a standing ovation, performed an unsuccessful shtick about Bob Hope, and left. Still, it was clear that audiences were missing his presence. Crystal's back this year, however, and has apparently been hiding out in Mongolia.
Funny or Die produced the new Oscars' trailer — that plays out like an overhyped action flick — featuring Josh Duhamel and Megan Fox. "The trailer has a fun twist that conveys how excited everyone is to have Billy back," Academy marketing officer Christina Kounelias shared. Robin Williams, Vinnie Jones (YES!), and William Fichtner all make appearances. Join the search for Billy in the trailer below, and let us know if you'll be tuning in on February 26 for the 84th Annual Academy Awards.
