Warner Bros. loves a strong double shot, so prepare a remedy for The Hangover: Extreme Hangover Edition on October 12. Don’t go drowning your sorrows if you already purchased the hilarious Vegas comedy starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis on Blu-ray—this version is identical to the one you own in terms of the feature films specs and supplements. The addition here is a 28-page wedding album containing photos from both the wedding album and the lost album as well as new BD-Live content.
Here’s a sunny forecast for those who can’t get enough of funnyman Will Ferrell: Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, his hilarious spin on 1970s-era newscasters, gets an exclusive Best Buy Blu-ray debut on August 31. This The Rich Mahogany Edition will include both the theatrical and the “Unrated, Uncut and Uncalled for” versions and comes packaged with a journal called “The Many Months of Burgundy” and a dozen trading cards. Extras include “Wake Up, Ron Burgundy,” which features deleted scenes and alternate takes.
Did someone mention Will Ferrell? Not wanting to miss out on Ferrell mania, Warner Bros. has announced a special Elf: Ultimate Collector’s Edition for October 26. The Blu-ray disc in this seasonal double dip will be identical to the one already available—the difference here is it will be repackaged in a collectible tin with an Elf CD soundtrack sampler, gift tags, a magnetic picture frame and a holiday stocking.
The zany adventures of four Star Wars fanatics are coming to Blu-ray on July 27 when Vivendi gives Fanboys an American Blu-ray release (it is already available as a Canadian import). Kyle Newman’s comedy starring Kristen Bell, Jay Baruchel, Chris Marquette and Dan Fogler is loaded with nerdgasmic behind-the-scenes bonus features, including “4 Fanboys and 1 Fangirl,” “Disturbance of the Force,” “The Truth About Fanboys” and much more.
Lionsgate is serving up 1991’s Delicatessen on Blu-ray on September 21 as part of its StudioCanal Collection. The pitch-black comedy directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet includes a new retrospective documentary by the director, a 20-page collectible booklet and more.
If you sunk your teeth into the stylish vampire thriller 30 Days of Night starring Josh Hartnett, you might want to check out its direct-to-video sequel, 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, on October 5 in a BD/DVD combo pack. This film takes place a year after the events in the original as Hartnett’s widow, Stella (this time played by Kiele Sanchez), is still haunted by her husband’s death and tries to expose the vampire threat to the world. Extras include “Vampires Exist: The Gritty Realism of Dark Days,” a comic-to-film featurette and more.
