Fans of the original caped crusader (no, not Adam West) will hanker for a hunk of Z on December 1 when Sony releases The Mask of Zorro on Blu-ray for the first time. The origin story of the Spanish swashbuckler stars Anthony Hopkins as the original Zorro, Antonio Banderas as his worthy successor, and Oscar-winning T-Mobile mouthpiece Catherine Zeta-Jones as la chica caliente. Bonus features include commentary by director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), “Unmasking Zorro” documentary, deleted scenes, Mark Anthony and Tina Arena’s music video for “I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You” (shouldn’t he be singing this with J-Lo?) and BD-Live connectivity. The disc also contains a behind-the-scenes peek at the 2005 sequel The Legend of Zorro, which has been available on BD for some time. If you didn’t pick up The Legend of Zorro already, Sony has also thoughtfully bundled it with The Mask of Zorro in a two-disc box set in addition to making both available individually. The whip, mask, sword and sleek black stallion are sold separately.
