ARTPOP is Lady Gaga's fourth studio album (two volumes) that is set to release in spring of 2013. "I'm fascinated with the decay of the blonde pop icon and how culture loves to build and give birth to fantasies and then destroy them and what that means. It's something I want to explore on my next album," the singer told Access Hollywood. Photographer Terry Richardson created a mock cover for the upcoming release (pictured below) and according to Vulture, he'll be directing Gaga's accompanying documentary, also called ARTPOP. "Merry Christmas little monsters! Terry Richardson @Terry World is making a #LadyGagaMOVIE documenting my life, the creation of ARTPOP + you!" she told her massive Twitter following.
Richardson is the artist we recently told you about who was commissioned by a skin-and-bones Jared Leto for some photos promoting his skeletal image in Jean-Marc Vallée's The Dallas Buyer's Club, also starring Matthew McConaughey. Richardson has worked with several stars, including Chloë Sevigny who dressed up in drag like the artist (complete with his signature plaid shirt and sideburns) and made out with him on video. Most recently, Richardson documented the sad physical decline of his mother to her death. We couldn't think of a more perfect person to lead the Gaga project, and fully expect it to be the singer's version of Madonna's Truth or Dare. Predict what "blond ambition[s]" Richardson and Gaga have in store for us, below.
