Night School

Tiffany Haddish made her mainstream breakthrough in last year's raucous comedy Girls Trip, which confirmed the comic talent that she has been displaying for years. She made strong impressions on Tyler Perry's dramatic series If Loving You Is Wrong and the above-average sitcom The Carmichael Show, then on the big screen in Keanu. Currently she is starring in the TBS series The Last O.G., opposite Tracy Morgan; the show was recently renewed for a second season.

She stars opposite Kevin Hart in Night School (above) which just opened in theaters and topped the box office on its first weekend in wide release. Haddish plays Carrie, a strong-willed teacher; her distinctive characterization earns many of the film's laughs.

What's ahead for Tiffany Haddish? She will be heard in the animated comedies The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, slated to open in theaters on February 8, 2019, and The Secret Life of Pets 2, due on June 7, 2019. But that's not all! Here are three of her upcoming live-action projects.

The Oath

Ike Barinholtz wrote, directed and stars in the comedy as an excitable man who struggles to get through the Thanksgiving holiday season after a politically-divisive issue threatens to tear his family apart. Haddish plays his wife, a more even-keeled sort who is sorely tested by the government decree and the response of her husband's family.

The film recently premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival to positive reviews. It will open in theaters nationwide on October 12.

Nobody's Fool

Haddish stars as a woman who has recently been released from prison. She reunites with her successful sister, relishing her new freedom. But then she learns that her sister has developed a serious, online relationship that may be dangerous and decides to put a stop to it.

Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick and Whoopi Goldberg also star in what looks like a very funny comedy. Tyler Perry, who worked with Haddish on If Loving You Is Wrong, wrote and directed. Nobody's Fool opens in theaters everywhere on November 2.

The Kitchen

Set in New York City's infamous Hell's Kitchen neighborhood during the 1970s, the crime drama follows a small group of women who take over the criminal operations of their newly-imprisoned husbands. Melissa McCarthy, Elisabeth Moss and Margo Martindale star alongside Haddish. The role will give her a good opportunity to show her talents as a dramatic actress, perhaps even more so than in If Loving You Is Wrong (above).

It's based on a comic book series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle that was first published in 2014. Andrea Orloff, Academy Award-nominated for cowriting Straight Outta Compton, wrote the script and makes her directorial debut. The film is currently scheduled for release on September 20, 2019.
