Newly Remastered 'Jurassic Park' Trilogy Hits Blu-ray This Fall

Jun 28, 2011

Jurassic Park Blu-rayEveryone has a few titles that they've been eagerly waiting for since getting a Blu-ray player.  For me the number one most anticipated title has always been Jurassic Park.  Not only is it one of my favorite films of all time, but it's one I have a deeply personal attachment to and can easily pinpoint it as being the film that made me love movies as a kid.  But I'm not here to get all mushy over Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton, let's just get to the details on what Universal has in store for the Jurassic Park Trilogy when it hits Blu-ray on October 25th, 2011.

- "Newly remastered and digitally restored" transfers.  Don't let the thoughts of digital restoration combined with Steven Spielberg worry you, it's hard to imagine this will be another case of CGI alterations a la E.T.

- DTS-HD Master 7.1 audio.  The only way John Williams score could sound better is if you time travelled to the day he recorded it with an orechestra.

- "Return to Jurassic Park," a newly produced six-part documentary that sounds a lot like "Tales From the Future," Universal's stellar retrospective documentary produced for last Fall's Back to the Future Blu-ray set.

Those are the three biggest goodies that are being produced exclusively for this new set, but they're far from the only special features you'll find.  Let's just pull this long list straight from the press release:

- The Making of Jurassic Park

- The Making of The Lost World: Jurassic Park

- The Making of Jurassic Park III

- Steven Spielberg Directs Jurassic Park

- Early Pre-Production Meetings

- The World of Jurassic Park
