Movie News: Benicio Del Toro Touted for 'The Predator'; First Look at Dylan O'Brien in 'American Assassin'

The Predator: Benicio Del Toro is in early talks to star in The Predator. The sequel, written by Shane Black and Fred Dekker and to be directed by Black, is scheduled for release on February 9, 2018. Black has already teased that the movie will "probably" have a detective story somewhere inside it, which could make Del Toro a fascinating choice for the lead role. [Deadline]

 

American Assassin

American Assassin: Our first look at Dylan O'Brien as Mitch Rapp in American Assassin reveals the young star as a young CIA agent on his first mission. The movie is based on a novel by Vince Flynn, author of a series of popular books about Rapp. Taylor Kitsch and Michael Keaton also star in the thriller, with hopes that it will launch a franchise. Dune

Dune: Director Denis Villeneuve recently made his first sci-fi movie, Arrival, which is already winning critical plaudits ahead of its release on November 11, and he is currently in production on the untitled sequel to sci-fi classic Blade Runner. What about other sci-fi projects?  "A longstanding dream of mine is to adapt Dune," he says, "but it’s a long process to get the rights, and I don’t think I will succeed."
