8 Great... East Meets Wild Westerns

Jan 04, 2011 Comments

Every once in a while, in the land of cinema, the Far East meets the Wild West like two gunfighters in a standoff or a pair of samurai squaring off in a final showdown. Who doesn’t love when a filmmaker takes an Akira Kurosawa movie, throws out the katanas, adds six-shooters and reaps the rewards?
As The Warrior’s Way opens this weekend (about an assassin hiding out in a small frontier town who gets revenge on his enemies), we revisit these movies where the East meets the Wild West. And since we’re limiting it to eight, we still have to give The Good, The Bad and The Weird an honorable mention.
