New Movie Trailers: Guillermo del Toro's 'The Strain,' 'Beauty & the Beast' and 'The Monuments Men'

Beauty and the Beast Vincent CasselWe're officially christening today “Trailer Tuesday” – and in celebration of this unofficial holiday, we’ve got three new clips to share. Let’s get this party started, or something.

We open with a brand spanking new clip for Christophe Gans updating of Beauty & the Beast. Vincent Cassel and Lea Seydoux star in the French-language retelling of the classic tale and it’s looking interesting.

We can certainly understand IndieWire’s contention that this overly familiar retelling of the original story wasn’t exactly what we expected when it was announced Gans would be directing, but it’s hard to argue that the footage isn’t stunning in spots even if the trailer (which is in unsubtitled French) makes it obvious that Gans is just retelling the story we’re all already intimately familiar with. Plus, it’s got Vincent Cassel in it – we’ll watch pretty much anything he stars in.

See what you think of the clip. Beauty & the Beast releases in France this February. There’s no official U.S. date yet.

If you ever found yourself thinking “Man, I’d really like to see an Ocean’s 11-styled heist film set during World War II,” today is your lucky day.

The new international clip for George Clooney’s The Monuments Men is now online – and it looks pretty great. Clooney is tasked with putting together an elite team to preserve the art that the Nazis are stealing and destroying during the war, which looks like it eventually leads to a high-stakes heist near the front lines.

Boasting an all-star cast (including Matt Damon, John Goodman and Bill “stop asking me about Ghostbusters 3” Murray) and an interesting angle, The Monuments Men will roll into theaters on February 7 of next year. [via IndieWire]

Finally, we close with the first viral trailer for FX’s upcoming series adaptation of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s The Strain.

The short preview doesn’t reveal much about the vampire/CSI-styled procedural, but it does sort of set things in motion for what we can expect when the first episode airs next July. Have a look at it and let us know what you think. Personally, I’m thrilled by the idea of a weekly dose of del Toro.
