The folks in Virginia have been all over the set of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, trying to snap shots of what's sure to be a contender for next year's awards season. Recently we got a good look at Daniel Day-Lewis sans his Abraham Lincoln attire, and now we get our first look at the actor in full costume as the 16th President of the United States. In this shot, snapped by the Richmond Times Dispatch (in case you couldn't tell by the several watermarks all over this thing), we see Day-Lewis walking, zeroed in on the task at hand, with director Spielberg and what looks to be a young extra. We think it's fair to say that Day-Lewis will bring the President to life in a way never before seen on the big screen, and we cannot wait.
Also starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, David Strathairn, John Hawkes, Sally Field, James Spader and more, Lincoln will predominantly focus on Lincoln's role at the end of the Civil War, though as Spielberg recently pointed out at the War Horse junket, the film will not be about the Civil War. Lincoln will hit theaters around this time next year.
