Straight Outta Compton

Godzilla: King of the Monsters: O'Shea Jackson Jr., who made his acting debut by portraying his father, Ice Cube, in Straight Outta Compton (above), is in negotiations to join Godzilla: King of the Monsters. If things work out, he would join Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler and Vera Farmiga in the monster sequel, which is scheduled for theatrical release on March 22, 2019. [Variety]

 

Barry Jenkins

The Underground Railroad: Barry Jenkins (above), who just won an Academy Award for Moonlight, has been busy lately writing a miniseries based on Colson Whitehead's book The Underground Railroad. It revolves around two slaves who escape a plantation in Georgia and head for safety. Now streaming service Amazon has picked up the series for further development. Jenkins is attached to direct. Paul Greengrass

Ness: Paul Greengrass (Jason Bourne, above) is in negotiations to direct Ness. Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential) has completed the script, based on Torso, a graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko that was inspired by the real-life exploits of Elliot Ness, who led a team of U.S. Treasury agents known as "The Untouchables" in the 1930s and helped take down crime boss Al Capone.
