Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof Team for Mystery Project: All we know is that it's called 1952, and it was written by Damon Lindelof. Now, after developing it for the last year, Disney has decided to move forward by bringing on Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird to helm the mysterious project, which we're hearing is a sci-fi blockbuster that will roll out across multiple platforms. Does that mean it also has a television show component? Don't know, but seeing as Lindelof is one of the brains behind Lost, we wouldn't be surprised if Disney went that route. Plans now are to film 1952 in 2013. [Deadline]
Michael Bay Turns to Pirates Next: Finally, Michael Bay has cut a deal with Starz to executive produce a new series that's being billed as a Treasure Island prequel. It's called Black Sail, and it'll take place 20 years before the iconic book, following John Silver as he joins Captain Flint's band of crazy pirates. For those who wanted an R-rated, overtly gratuitous Pirates of the Caribbean adventure, this looks to be it. [Vulture]
