Clothing outlet H&M and costume designer for David Fincher's remake of Stieg Larsson's popular novel, Trish Summerville, have teamed up to bring a little Dragon Tattoo to the masses. They're prettying up the gothy-punk hacker, Lisbeth Salander, for the retail racks. "We took her [Salander's] basic pieces that we used throughout the film and did a little more fashionable version for H&M," explains Summerville. Apparently the designer went thrifting around Sweden where the remake is set to pull together the character's wardrobe — making it kind of hilarious that she's banking on that approach now.
Expect fancy hoodies, leathery things, backpacks, and tribal earrings this December in stores worldwide and online. Of course, the real Lisbeth Salander would probably scoff at all this, preferring the holes in her pants and tees homemade. The Salander character, made popular by Noomi Rapace's stellar performance, has been sexualized more for the remake — at least as far as what we can see from the promo material for Fincher's version, which finds Rooney Mara in the part. If you wanted Salander's look, would you shell out the dough for a "fashionable" version, or just do it your own way on the cheap? Preview the new collection in the video below.
