Lots of nerdy little updates this weekend courtesy of WonderCon, where the latest trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter premiered, as well as five minutes worth of the new Guy Pearce-starring sci-fi flick Lockout.
Directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter reimagines history and tells an alternate story about our 16th President in which he's actually a heroic vampire hunter. Lots of fast-paced jumping, kicking, explosions and axe battles, which definitely make this fun to watch. But when this two minutes is stretched to a full feature, that's where the tricky part of converting what sounds like a silly premise into a believable badass action flick will come into play. Guess we'll see when it hits theaters on June 22nd.
Next up are five minutes from the sci-fi thriller Lockout, which arrives in theaters on April 13th. In this freaky-sounding flick, Guy Pearce stars as a falsely-convicted government agent who must rescue the President's daughter (Maggie Grace, who for some reason likes to star in films where she plays a daughter who needs to be rescued) from rioting inmates at an outer space prison in order to obtain his own freedom. Sound nutty enough for you? No? Well then this clip featuring Pearce fighting an inmate while floating in mid-air should do the trick.
