In an age where bullying is widespread and a daily topic at the family dinner table, it's stuff like this that needs the attention. It's a video put together at the MCM Expo in London featuring a whole slew of cosplayers lip-syncing Jon Bon Jovi's "It's My Life," celebrating their unique hobbies of dressing up as their favorite pop-culture characters through a song that's all about being the person you want to be instead of the person they want you to be. Which might be new territory for Bon Jovi, who's built a career appealing to the hard-working, blue-collar folks of New York and New Jersey, and one we're sure he'd welcome.
Even so, the themes in this song are universal, and it's nice to see the cosplaying community embracing it as their sort of anthem, if you will. And, sure, you might look at this and write it off as being just another lame, nerdy video, but if it helps even one young person express themselves without feeling alone or ashamed of who they are and what they like, then it was totally worth it. Plus the production value of this thing is pretty impressive. Good work, folks. [Topless Robot]
