Groot Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy hype is in full swing after this week’s reveal of the film’s first official trailer (which looks awesome, by the way), and today we’ve got some inside skinny on how Vin Diesel landed the gig voicing Groot in the film.

As you may recall, Diesel took to social media last year – posting the following on Facebook right before Comic-Con:

“Marvel has requested a meeting … no idea what for … haha, you probably know better than me.”

That got the Internet in an uproar. and then the status update vanished.

Turns out, Diesel had made it up – but Marvel noticed the resulting buzz from the fan community, and Diesel did indeed get his meeting… and the job voicing Groot. So, what has Vin Diesel taught us today? Be bold – but be careful, too. I suspect if I tweeted that I had a meeting at Marvel, I’d still be unemployed at the end of the day. [via Bleeding Cool]

New photo reveals the Green Goblin in Amazing Spider-Man 2

While fans got their first peek at The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Green Goblin thanks to a video preview featuring a bust of the character at Toy Fair, we can now share an official Sony-approved shot of the villain as he’ll appear in the film.

The studio has released an image (pictured below) that features actor Dane DeHaan battling everyone’s favorite wall crawler in a scene from the upcoming film. It’s hard to get a real feel for how the character will be portrayed from this still shot, but we’re intrigued by what we’ve seen so far. What do you guys think? Is this a good replacement for the Raimi film’s Green Goblin, or are you missing Willem Dafoe? [via Comic Book Movie]
