Watch: Neil DeGrasse Tyson Explains the 'Interstellar' Ending

Interstellar black hole

Scientist Neil DeGrasse Tyson is back, and he’s talking about Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar in this new video.

In his latest discussion of the film, NDG breaks down what exactly is going on at the end of Nolan’s sci-fi epic – but it’s not nearly as spoilerific as you might suspect. Tyson avoids talking about the plot at the end of the film in any meaningful way, and instead focuses on discussing the theoretical science behind it all.

It’s really fascinating stuff – hearing Tyson talk about four-dimensional coordinates in practical terms takes some pretty heady science and makes it extremely accessible. In fact, Tyson makes all of Interstellar’s science so easy to understand that we think it would be an absolute tragedy if Nolan doesn’t get the scientist to do a commentary track or a featurette for the film’s Blu-ray supplemental material. Imagine Neil DeGrasse Tyson and physicist-producer Kip Thorne doing a lengthy breakdown of all the higher concepts of the film. Okay, we're total nerds, but you know it would still be amazing.

For proof of just how cool it could be – and just how much real science was involved in the creation of Interstellar’s story, watch the clip above.
