If you've been dealing with some postpartum Natalie Portman blues, chin up, because the star may be featured in Lana and Andy Wachowski's Jupiter Ascending, which will get rolling after the duo finish wrapping up Cloud Atlas. The retelling of David Mitchell's 2004 novel of the same name will release this October, giving Portman plenty of time with her new baby before she goes back to work.
Portman is said to be seriously considering a part in the film, which will bring the Wachowskis' back to their sci-fi roots (with hopefully less Matrix slow-mo). The directors' gay love story set during the Iraqi War, Cobalt Neutral 9, hit a financing wall, bringing them to the Jupiter project. So far they're eyeing up a spring 2012 production start with Warner Bros. for their original idea, which remains tightly under wraps.
After Portman won her Oscar for Black Swan last year, she took a Hollywood hiatus to raise her son Aleph with Benjamin Millipied — her co-star and choreographer. Since Portman's eyed up the sci-fi circuit before with Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity — and collaborated with the director team for 2006's V for Vendetta — can you see the actress leaving her baby break for the Wachowskis?
