The annual MTV Movie Awards show gives fans a chance to vote for their favorites and for celebrities to kick off their shoes, so to speak, in a less inhibited awards-show environment. And it also gives movie studios a chance to show off their upcoming blockbusters to their target demographic (i.e. people who watch MTV).
Iron Man 3
The newest entry in Marvel’s superhero series debuted a more extensive clip of the shootout at Tony Stark’s seaside house, a battle that has only been glimpsed so far in trailers and teasers. Robert Downey Jr. stars; the movie opens across the known universe on May 3.
Star Trek Into Darkness Sneak Peek
Check out what's essentially a new Star Trek Into Darkness TV spot that mixes footage we've seen with a couple of shots we haven't. The film drops on May 17.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Teased throughout the show, the most substantial look at the sequel so far was introduced by costar Liam Hemsworth. Judging by the trailer, the second installment of the planned four-part series definitely has a darker feel than the mega-successful first film, especially in the opening moments as Donald Sutherland and Philip Seymour Hoffman discuss the fate of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), and the implications of her victory. Fans will have to wait to see until November 22 to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in theaters. Read more in our trailer reaction post, coming soon.

The To-Do List
While Will Ferrell was onstage accepting his Comedic Genius Award, Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) came up and tried to wrestle the award out of his hand. It was an awkward moment that seemed like a failed comedy bit, but the reason that Ferrell didn’t know what to say is that the moment was not planned. MTV confirmed that the actress, who looked embarrassed after the bit with the title of her upcoming movie The To-Do List marked on her chest, was asked to leave the show by the producers. [MTV]
