Movies Chat is our new work-in-progress chat show hosted by Movies.com Managing Editor Erik Davis. Each week we'll release multiple episodes that feature 15-20 minute conversations with some of the web's most notable movie experts.

In an unusual fundraising project, movie critics and podcast co-hosts Eric D. Snider and Jeff Bayer wanted to attend this year's Cannes Film Festival, but didn't have the necessary bucks to travel to France. So they took to the popular fundraising site Kickstarter to see if their readers and listeners would kick in enough money for the duo to travel to Cannes, and in return they promised a 45-minute Cannes-related podcast each day they were there. Neither expected to actually reach their goal of $5,000, but through the magical powers of the internet, they did.
With the Cannes Film Festival taking the film world by storm later this week -- and with Snider and Bayer currently on their way to France, courtesy of their online fans -- I caught up with the guys before they left to chat about everything from their successful Kickstarter campaign to which films they're looking forward to seeing most in Cannes.
You can listen to our conversation below, and feel free to email any questions, comments and concerns to movieschat AT gmail DOT com.
