Movies Chat is our new work-in-progress chat show hosted by Movies.com Managing Editor Erik Davis. Each week we'll release multiple episodes that feature 15-20 minute conversations with some of the web's most notable movie experts.
In case you haven't been paying attention, Marvel's The Avengers shattered box office records this past weekend with an opening of $207 million, besting Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games and, well, every other film ever made. So what happens now? Will Marvel and Disney stick to their plan, or will the success of The Avengers force them to shovel out even more ensemble "team up" movies? And will other studios now look at teaming up some of their favorite franchise characters because of how much money The Avengers is making?
On this episode of Movies Chat I'm joined by Todd Gilchrist (@mtgilchrist), of The Hollywood Reporter, The Playlist and Movies.com, to discuss all these things and more. You can listen to our chat using the player below, and feel free to email me any questions, comments and concerns to movieschat AT gmail DOT com.
