You Might Remember Troy McClure from These Awesome Movie Posters

You Might Remember Troy McClure from These Awesome Movie Posters

Aug 15, 2013

Simpsons Troy McClureYou might remember Troy McClure as the B-rate movie star who never met a project he wouldn’t do on The Simpsons. The classic character, voiced by the late Phil Hartman, would often show up in tacky infomercials, school film strips and even a stage version of Planet of the Apes. His classic intro – “Hi, I’m Troy McClure! You might remember me from…” became an enduring part of Simpsons’ history.

Naturally, it was only a matter of time before someone on the Internet took it upon themselves to memorialize some of Troy McClure’s most outrageous projects with their very own posters. That’s where awesome Tumblr blog “You Might Remember Me From” comes in.

The blog team has re-created some of McClure’s greatest hits – including the unforgettable seat belt safety film Alice’s Adventures Through the Windshield Glass and The President’s Neck Is Missing!

Don’t just laugh at the titles – the visuals are hilarious too, and if you take the time to read the credits, you’ll find even more hilarity (personal favorite?  Jim Backus as “The Square” in Gladys the Groovy Mule. It just feels plausible.).

Unfortunately, Troy McClure (and the other classic Hartman character, attorney Lionel Hutz) was retired from active duty after Hartman’s murder in 1998. The character may be gone, but the hilarity lives on.

Swing by the “You Might Remember Me From” blog for pages and pages of hilarious spoofs – but first check out a few of my favorites below.
