Movie News: Woody Allen's TV Show to Star Miley Cyrus; Watch Scary 'The Witch' TV Spot

Woody Allen: Miley Cyrus will star in a new television series for Amazon, written and to be directed by Woody Allen. Cyrus and Allen will star in the series along with Elaine May, who previously appeared with Allen in Small Time Crooks (2000). The show will consist of six 30-minute episodes and is set in the 1960s; production begins in March. [Deadline]


Uma Thurman / Alexandra Daddario

The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir: Uma Thurman will join comedy adventure The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. The movie, to be directed by Marjane Satrapi (The Voices), follows a storyteller who travels from New Delhi to Paris, where he falls in love with a woman and is then accidentally deported. Alexandra Daddario (above, right) is in advanced negotiations to play one of the lead roles. [Variety]



Miss Sloane: Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion, above) is in final negotiations to join Miss Sloane, a drama about a political fixer "who takes on Washington’s well-oiled gun lobby to pass gun legislation." Jessica Chastain is set to star; Mbatha-Raw would play a gun-control lobbyist. The cast also includes Michael Stuhlbarg and Alison Pill; John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) will direct. [THR]


The Witch

The Witch TV Spot: A new TV spot for The Witch is quite suggestive about the frights that lie within. The critically-acclaimed movie revolves around a New England family in the 1630s that is ripped apart by witchcraft. It opens in theaters on February 19. [Movieclips]
