Furious 7

Furious 8: Who will direct Furious 8? The next installment in the popular series has already been scheduled for release on April 14, 2017, but director James Wan (Furious 7) is busy making a sequel to The Conjuring, and Justin Lin, who helmed four installments, is now making Star Trek Beyond. While Universal Studios weighs possible action directors, writer Chris Morgan is working on a script that will steer the franchise forward without Paul Walker in the mix. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Prometheus

Prometheus: Director Ridley Scott has confirmed plans for multiple movies that will delve further into the pre-Alien universe he first explored in 2012's Prometheus. He said that the next film, expected to begin production in early 2016, will not tie directly into the Alien universe: "It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise.” Neill Blomkamp is also developing an Alien film, revolving around the Ellen Ripley character played by Sigourney Weaver, that will be set long after the Prometheus films. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

Measure of a Man: Donald Sutherland, who lately has been a powerful villainous force in the Hunger Games movies, will take the independent film route for Measure of a Man. It's based on a young adult novel by Robert Lipsyte titled One Fat Summer, and follows an overweight teen in the 1970s, to be played by Blake Cooper (The Maze Runner), whose life changes during a summer in which a Wall Street executive (Sutherland) becomes his employer and adult guide. The Walk

The Walk Clip: In a new clip from The Walk, a high-wire walker (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) seeks guidance from his mentor (Ben Kingsley) before an attempt is made to walk between the twin towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. Directed by Robert Zemeckis (above with the actors), the movie opens in IMAX theaters on September 30 before expanding wide on October 9. [Movieclips]
