Solo: A Star Wars Story

Solo: A Star Wars Story: We've known for quite some time that Solo: A Star Wars Story will explore the early days of Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), but when exactly in the Star Wars timeline does it take place? According to a new timeline available from publisher Del Rey Books, events in the film begin after Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and before both the animated series Star Wars Rebels and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Look for Solo in theaters on May 25, 2018. [Slashfilm]

Captain Marvel: Gemma Chan (Stratton, above) has joined the cast of Captain Marvel. She will portray Minn-Erva, aka Doctor Minerva, a geneticist and spy in the Marvel comic books. Brie Larson, Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn are already set to star in the film, which is set in the 1990s. It's scheduled for theatrical release on March 8, 2019. [Deadline]

The Magnificent Seven

Scarface: Antoine Fuqua (The Magnificent Seven, above) is once again in talks to direct Scarface. He was first touted for the job in August 2016 but departed in January 2017 due to scheduling issues, which is when Diego Luna began circling the lead role. Now scheduling issues may prompt Luna to depart. The original film, released in 1932, revolved around the rise and fall of a criminal kingpin. Al Pacino starred in a 1983 remake, directed by Brian De Palma. The new version will be set in modern-day Los Angeles and follow a similar storyline. [Deadline]

Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451 Teasers: Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon star in the first two teasers for Fahrenheit 451. The new adaptation of Ray Bradbury's classic novel suggests an even darker take on the story of a future in which books have been outlawed and firefighters burn them on sight. The sci-fi drama will debut on HBO this spring. [Movieclips]
