Movie News: Watch the First Fantastic 'Creed' Trailer; See Julia Roberts in First 'Secret in Their Eyes' Trailer

Creed Trailer: Michael B. Jordan stars in Creed as the son of legendary boxer Apollo Creed, and the powerful first trailer reveals him to be a mighty contender for some kind of crown. Phylicia Rashad, Tessa Thompson, and Sylvester Stallone (as boxer turned trainer Rocky Balboa) also star; Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Jordan's breakout role) directs. Valentine's Day

Mother's Day: Julia Roberts will star in Mother's Day, the latest in a series of holiday-themed comedies from director Garry Marshall that includes New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day. Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Jason Sudeikis are in negotiations to join the cast. The project will reunite Roberts with Marshall, who first worked together on 1990's Pretty Woman and later teamed on 1999's Runaway Bride and 2010's Valentine's Day (above). [Deadline]


Secret in Their Eyes

Secret in Their Eyes Trailer: Julia Roberts also stars in Secret in Their Eyes, a thriller based on a novel by Eduardo Sacheri, which previously served as the source for a Spanish-language version in 2009 that won an Academy Award. The new movie follows Roberts, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Nicole Kidman as FBI investigators who are torn apart when one of their children is killed. It's set to open in theaters on October 23. Jason Hall

Thank You For Your Service: Jason Hall (above), who adapted Chris Kyle's bestseller American Sniper for the big screen and earned an Academy Award nomination for his efforts, is in negotiations to direct Thank You For Your Service. Based on a nonfiction book by David Finkel, the movie will track the challenges facing three U.S. soldiers after they return home from military service in Iraq, suffering from the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Hall has already completed the script; if things work out, he will be making his directorial debut. [The Wrap]
