Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel: Could Vin Diesel be the next great Marvel hero -- or villain? Yesterday, the actor noted on his Facebook page to his fans: "Marvel has requested a meeting... no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me..." That's led to speculation that he could be up for a variety of roles in Marvel's next phase of films, most of which have not yet been officially announced. Meanwhile, Diesel has been sharing photos from his personal collection, including one from Brazil. [Facebook]

Annie: We just heard that Sandra Bullock dropped out of talks for the role of mean orphanage leader Miss Hannigan in the upcoming screen version of the musical Annie, but now it's been revealed that Cameron Diaz will lend her comedic talents to the project. Diaz, of course, starred as Bad Teacher not too long ago, and might be reprising her role as a dubious educator in the sequel. Annie stars Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) as the young orphan girl and will be directed by Will Gluck. It's aiming for release in December 2014. [Deadline]

Magic Mike 2: The sequel to the unexpectedly popular stripper movie Magic Mike is moving along nicely, according to star Channing Tatum, whose early experiences provided loose inspiration for the original. Despite director Steven Soderbergh's avowed retirement, Tatum would love to see him return; if not, Tatum himself might codirect with his producing partner Reid Carolin. Soderbergh has volunteered to serve as director of photography, though Taum wonders if that would be a good idea: "It would be like having sex with your girlfriend while her porn-star ex-boyfriend is in the room watching you." [The Hollywood Reporter]

Thanks for Sharing Trailer: Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow, who appeared together in The Avengers, take on very different roles in the comedy-drama Thanks for Sharing. Ruffalo plays a sex addict in recovery, while Paltrow is the new love of his life. The first trailer showcases other recovering sex addicts, including Josh Gad, Alecia Moore (aka musician Pink) and Tim Robbins. The movie opens in theaters on September 20. [Yahoo! Movies]
