The Mummy / Frankenstein / Dracula

Untitled Universal Monster Franchise FilmNews broke over the summer that writer-producers Alex Kurtzman (TransformersStar Trek) and Chris Morgan (Fast and Furious) would take charge of rebooting Universal's classic monster movies, with The Mummy coming first on June 24, 2016. Now the second in the series has been dated for release on April 27, 2017, though Universal is declining to say which monster will be featured, describing it only as an "epic action-adventure." Will it be Frankenstein? The Wolfman? The Creature from the Black Lagoon? [Collider]

Yoga Hosers

Yoga Hosers: The first official look at Kevin Smith's Yoga Hosers features Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp (aka the daughters of Kevin Smith and Johnny Depp, respectively). The teenage actresses appeared together briefly as convenience store clerks in horror-comedy Tusk, and now are starring in the same roles in the new movie, in which they team with a legendary detective (Mr. Depp, also reprising his role) to defeat "an ancient evil." The fathers and their daughters are described as long-time friends in real life. [The Hollywood Reporter]

The Trap: Jamie Foxx is going indie. The Academy Award-winning actor will star in The Trap, to be directed by Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers), based on his own script. The movie is an ensemble gangster drama about two childhood friends. The less successful one is released from prison and seeks revenge against the other, who has done quite well for himself. Benecio Del Toro will also star. [Variety/THR]

Penguins of Madagascar
