The Cowboys: Tommy Lee Jones is remaking John Wayne. To be precise, Jones will write and direct a new version of The Cowboys, Mark Rydell's 1972 Western, in which Wayne starred as a curmudgeonly rancher who must whip a motley group of schoolboys into shape for a cattle drive; the source material is a novel by William Dale Jennings. It's not known if Jones intends to star in the film as well; he's finishing up The Homesman, another Western that he cowrote and directed, and also stars in, alongside Hilary Swank. [Variety]

The Fall Guy: The pieces are finally coming together for a big-screen version of beloved '80s TV show The Fall Guy. The original series starred Lee Majors as a Hollywood stuntman who moonlighted as a bounty hunter; the new version will star Dwayne Johnson and will be directed by McG (Terminator Salvation). Long in development, the project gained renewed life thanks to a script by Zack Stentz and Ashley Edward Miller (Thor, X-Men: First Class). [Heat Vision]

Salinger Trailer: Opening in select theaters today, Shane Salerno's Salinger documents the life and literature of author J.D. Salinger, who became reclusive after the worldwide success of his first novel, The Catcher in the Rye. The documentary features dozens of interviews; a new trailer weaves together a multitude of sound bites from those interviews with literary friends, past loves, and devotees. [Yahoo!]
