Movie News: Tom Hanks in First 'Inferno' Photos; 'Kingsman' Sequel Moves Forward

Inferno: Director Ron Howard has revealed the first on-set photos from Inferno, the latest in a series based on books by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones star; the dramatic thriller started production this week in Venice, Italy, and is scheduled for release on October 14, 2016. [Collider]

Robotech: James Wan (Furious 7) is in "early discussions" to direct Robotech, the big-screen adaptation of a Japanese animated television series. The show revolved around "robotic technology found on a crashed alien starship that Earth used to fight off various alien invasions." Thanks to the gigantic box-office success of Furious 7, Wan is very much in demand, so it's by no means a certainty that he'll be available for this potential franchise-starter. [Deadline]

Kingsman: The Secret Service: A sequel to Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service is on its way. The first film, loosely based on a six-issue comic book series by Mark Millar, became an unexpected worldwide hit after it was released in February, grossing more than $400 million.
