Steven Spielberg

Ready Player One: Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One has now been dated for release on December 15, 2017. As we reported when Spielberg signed on to the project, it will follow his period thriller Bridge of Spies, due out in October, and next year's family-friendly The BFG. Based on a novel by Ernest Cline, Ready Player One is about "a billionaire game designer who dies and leaves his fortune to the first person who can solve all his clues and find the Easter egg hidden inside his insanely popular Second Life-type virtual reality game." The Twilight Zone - Tower of Terror - Hotel Lobby

Tower of Terror: Disney wants to transform another of their theme park rides into a big-screen attraction. The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror ride has been frightening guests since 1994 (see hotel lobby above), and now Disney is reportedly developing a pitch by veteran screenwriter John August (Dark Shadows) that's described as a "more fun than scary family adventure … through retaining the inherent spookiness of the premise." A TV movie based on the ride was first broadcast in 1997. [Tracking Board]

Samuel L. Jackson

Kong: Skull Island: Faced with the unenviable task of replacing both Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons, who exited Kong: Skull Island due to scheduling conflicts, the producers are eying Samuel L. Jackson to step into Simmons' role and possibly John C. Reilly to fill Keaton's shoes, with Tom Wilkinson reportedly offered another lead role. They would join a cast that already includes Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson. The movie follows a group of explorers on the primitive island where King Kong lived amidst dinosaurs; it's set for release on March 10, 2017. [Deadline]

Hitman: Agent 47

Hitman: Agent 47 Trailer: Rupert Friend stars as the titular assassin in Hitman: Agent 47, although a new trailer sheds more light on the mysterious character played by Zachary Quinto. The actio-packed trailer also hints at a considerable amount of bloodshed, which is not too surprising given the subject matter. The movie will explode into theaters on August 21. [Movieclips]
