Stanley Kubrick Exhibit at LACMA

Stanley Kubrick: A retrospective exhibition devoted to legendary director Stanley Kubrick has opened at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The show includes props, costumes, scripts, photos, posters and even set models for Kubrick’s films, including 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide Shut. The exhibition also examines projects that were never realized; it continues at LACMA through June 30. [Photo above by Maya Sugarman; KPCC]

The Twilight Saga: Adding fuel to the rumor fire that The Twilight Saga might continue in some form after Breaking Dawn - Part 2 opens on November 16, series creator Stephenie Meyer says that she “planned out where it would go for a couple more books. So I know exactly what would happen, I mean there are a lot of characters I think would have a voice in those other stories.” She refused, however, to do anything more than tease that she “might” write them out for herself “someday.” [The Playlist]

Burt Reynolds: Some actors have stripped down for movie roles and been rewarded with Academy Awards, but Burt Reynolds regrets taking off his clothes -- for a picture in a magazine. Reynolds posed nude for Cosmopolitan Magazine in April 1972, but feels that the ensuing commotion from the taboo-breaking photo distracted from the fine performances given by fellow cast members Jon Voight and Ned Beatty in Deliverance, which came out a few months later. Reynolds feels that it was his best film; it was nominated for three Academy Awards, but none for the actors. [The Daily Dish!]

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer: Just weeks before it was scheduled to be released this past summer, G.I. Joe: Retaliation was pulled. Additional scenes have been shot and the whole thing has been converted into 3D; a new trailer features snippets of the added footage, showcasing Channing Tatum a bit more. Dwayne Johnson, Jonathan Pryce and Bruce Willis star; the movie’s new due date is March 29, 2013. [The Film Stage]
