Alien: Covenant

Alien: Covanant: 20th Century Fox celebrated Ridley Scott's birthday yesterday by sharing a photo of the director on the set of Alien: Covenant. Sharp-eyed observers noted that the chair in the background may be holding an alien "Engineer," similar to the so-called "Space Jockey" seen in Scott's original Alien. Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir and Danny McBride star; the movie is heading for release on May 19, 2017. [Twitter/Bloody Disgusting]

Detective Pikachu

Detective Pikachu: Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) will direct Detective Pikachu. Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch have written the script for the live-action movie, based on a character and storyline in the incredibly popular Pokémon universe, which followed "a boy who teams up with a rare, talking Pikachu to solve Pokémon mysteries." The Brothers Grimsby

Greed: Reportedly, Fox Searchlight is circling distribution rights to Greed, a comedy set to star Sacha Baron Cohen (The Brothers Grimsby, above). Michael Winterbottom (The Trip to Italy) will direct. The movie "is a satirical take on the world of the super-rich with Baron Cohen playing a cut-throat retail billionaire." [Deadline]
