War for the Planet of the Apes: Director Matt Reeves shared the first photo from War for the Planet of the Apes, which began production over the weekend, provoking positive responses from filmmakers Peyton Reed (Ant-Man) and Andrew Stanton (WALL-E), among many others. The photo suggests a reference to the first entry in the series. The movie stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, and Steve Zahn; it's due for theatrical release on July 14, 2017. The Incredible Hulk

Colossal: Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) has joined Anne Hathaway in Colossal, written and to be directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes). The movie follows a woman who discovers that she is somehow "strangely connected to a giant lizard-like monster that materialized over Tokyo and is wreaking havoc." Nelson will portray a man with a drug problem; Austin Stowell (Bridge of Spies) also stars. Production starts today in Vancouver, Canada. [Deadline]



Annabelle: A spinoff from horror movie The Conjuring that focused on a spirit-possessed doll Annabelle proved very successful, grossing more than $250 million worldwide. Now the spinoff has earned its own sequel. Gary Dauberman, who wrote Annabelle, will pen the script for a new installment. No other details have been announced. [Variety]
