Sean Penn: He doesn’t often deign to appear in more commercially oriented projects, but when he does, Sean Penn’s performances usually make them worth the wait. (That’s him, above, in Gangster Squad, due in January.) Penn is now in negotations to star in Prone Gunman, an action thriller from uber-producer Joel Silver (Lethal Weapon and a jillion others). He would play an “international operative” who is betrayed and must go on the run across Europe; reportedly, the film has “franchise potential.” [The Hollywood Reporter]

Warm Bodies Poster: The more we see of Jonathan Levine’s zombie romantic comedy Warm Bodies, the more we like. The trailer wittily walked a fine line between horror and humor, and the new poster gives center stage to the romantic aspects while acknowledging the dangers of the zombie army assembling in the background. The movie’s due in theaters on February 1, 2013. []

Anchorman 2: Will the long-awaited sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy be a musical? Now that Paramount has given the go-ahead for the movie, though, he’s talking about doing only one musical number, though that could change; he and Will Ferrell are still in the midst of rewriting the script.
