Pianist Power: Even as Magic Mike is about to hit theaters, director Steven Soderbergh is busy casting Behind the Candelabra, a bio-pic for HBO about famed pianist Liberace (Michael Douglas) and his long-time lover (Matt Damon). Recently Debbie Reynolds was added to play Liberace’s mother and Dan Ackroyd to portray his manager. Now Scott Bakula and Rob Lowe (above, in Parks and Recreation) are in talks to join the cast; Bakula would play a choreographer and Lowe a plastic surgeon. Who knew the Liberace story would draw so many stars? [The Hollywood Reporter]

From High School to Hijacking: After making his mark with breezy comedies (Fired Up, Easy A, Friends With Benefits), writer/director Will Gluck has been widening his horizons. He was in negotiations to remake a Swiss drama, and is now in talks to produce and direct Skyjack: The Hunt for D.B. Cooper as an action comedy, based on a novel by Geoffrey Gray that was itself inspired by the real-life exploits of Cooper, who hijacked a plane, demanded $200,000 in ransom money, and then jumped out, never to be seen again. His story previously inspired 1981’s The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper, starring Treat Williams. [Deadline]

Talking Trilogy: Last November, Ethan Hawke revealed that he had been talking with Julie Delpy and director Richard Linklater about a third colloboration, continuing on with the characters from their talkfests Before Sunrise (1995) and Before Sunset (2004). Now Hawke says that the follow-up will shoot “this summer,” though he declined to name the location, or even the title, of the project. [IndieWire]

Scary, Spooky: Several of us from got to see a sneak preview of Scott Derrickson’s Sinister at SXSW, and I think it’s safe to say we were all a little jumpy afterwards. Ethan Hawke stars as a true-crime novelist who moves his family into a house where a mass murder took place, and … oh, just watch the first trailer, below. [Shock Till You Drop]
