Drag Me to Hell

The Kingkiller Chronicle: Sam Raimi (Drag Me to Hell, above) is in negotiations to direct The Kingkiller Chronicle. It's based on The Name of the Wind, the first in a series of fantasy novels by Pat Rothfuss that detail the adventures of Kvothe, a heroic traveling musician. Lin-Manuel Miranda (Broadway's smash hit Hamilton) will produce; Lindsey Beer is writing the script. [Variety]

 

Lights Out

Shazam!: Director David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation; Lights Out, above) shared a photo from the first day of production on Shazam! (below). Asher Angel plays young Billy Batson, who gains the ability to transform himself into the titular adult superhero (Zachary Levi) by uttering a single word. The Handmaid's Tale

Her Smell: Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid's Tale, above) will star in writer-director Alex Ross Perry's Her Smell. The two previously worked together on Queen of Earth and Listen Up Philip. The new film features an ensemble cast; Moss will portray a punk rock singer who struggles to gain sobriety over a period of years, all the time pushing the boundaries of her personal relationships. Unsane Trailer: Hounded by a stalker, Claire Foy (above) moves to another city, only to see him again. That's just the beginning of her nightmare, however, as laid out as in the first trailer for Unsane. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the psychological thriller will open in theaters on March 23.
