Ricky Bobby Dispute

Ricky Bobby: Look at the car on the left; it's from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, starring Will Ferrell. Now look at the car on the right; it's parked outside Ricky Bobby's Sports Saloon and Restaurant, located in Fort Worth, Texas. Notice any similarities? So did Columbia Pictures, which is now suing the restaurant operators, demanding that they stop profiting from the brand without paying a licensing fee. The restaurant owners claim names cannot be trademarked, and may be planning to expand their empire. [Dallas Observer]

Fletch Won: Jason Sudeikis (We're the Millers) is in talks to star in Fletch Won, described as a "gritty action comedy" that is intended to reboot I.M. Fletcher, an investigative reporter created by novelist Gregory Mcdonald and first played by Chevy Chase in 1985's Fletch and then again in 1989's Fletch Lives. Mcdonald wrote 11 novels featuring the character, and Warner Bros. is hoping for a franchise. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Epic Fail: The feature-film career of Ed Helms (The Office, The Hangover) is heating up, with word coming that he will star in the comedy Epic Fail. Helms will star as a member of a "highly unorthodox Special Forces team" assigned on a mission to "save America." Writers Mike Arnold (TV's animated spy comedy Archer) and Chris Poole will pen the screenplay. [Variety]

Devil's Knot Trailer: In the intriguing first official trailer for Devil's Knot, based on a real-life tragedy, Reese Witherspoon stars as the mother of a little boy who goes missing and then turns up dead, one of three murdered children. When three young men are accused of the heinous crime, Colin Firth begins to investigate. Directed by Atom Egoyan, the movie opens in theaters on May 9. [First Showing]
