Django Unchained

Star Trek: Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained, above) has always been happy to talk about possible future projects, though he's notorious for floating ideas that never come to fruition. Recently, however, he shared his idea for a Star Trek movie with producer J.J. Abrams. Now Paramount plans to assemble a so-called "writers room" to hear Tarantino's idea and begin to put things together for an installment that he might direct after his next movie is released in 2019. X-Man: Apocalypse

Bohemian Rhapsody: Director Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse, above left) has been relieved of his duties on the Queen musical biography Bohemian Rhapsody. Rami Malek (TV's Mr. Robot) stars as Freddie Mercury, the singer who led the popular British rock band. About two weeks remain on the production schedule; a new director is expected to be named shortly. The movie is still scheduled for release on December 25, 2018. [THR]

Happy Death Dog

Capsule: Christopher Landon, who recently directed Happy Death Day (above), is attached to direct Capsule, described as a sci-fi thriller about an astronaut marooned in deep space whose only companion is the ship's artificial intelligence system, until a mysterious rescue team arrives. Joe Greenberg wrote the original script; Landon is known for writing multiple installments of the Paranormal Activity series. [The Tracking Board]
