 Grace of Monaco

Grace of Monaco: Nicole Kidman made a splendid appearance as an Academy Award presenter on Sunday night, and somehow looks even more lovely as the real-life Princess Grace (Kelly) in Grace of Monaco, as new images reveal. The upcoming biopic follows the actress turned royal in the early 1960s when she worked behind the scenes in behalf of her adopted country as it faced a major crisis. [Collider]

Unbroken: Joel and Ethan Coen are taking on a new challenge: adapting Laura Hillenbrand’s fact-based best seller Unbroken for director Angelina Jolie. Jolie came onboard as director back in December, and decided that a new screenplay was needed; the project has been in development for more than two years. The true story revolves around a former track star whose plane crashed during World War II. He survived a crash landing, 47 days at sea without food or water, and two years of captivity as a prisoner of war. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Zero Dark Thirty: Though it was widely acclaimed by critics as one of the year’s best, Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty came under fire for its treatment of torture, leading to an investigation by the Senate Intelligence Committee. Some believe the criticism from the Senate and others hurt the film’s awards chances; it ended up winning only one Oscar. And now -- perhaps coincidentally? -- the Senate has reportedly dropped its probe, without announcing its findings. [The Atlantic Wire]

Eden Trailer: Jamie Chung stars in Eden as a teenager who is kidnapped and forced into prostitution by an international sex slavery ring. Chung gives a deeply affecting performance in the drama, which made a strong impression at SXSW last year, and will be hitting theaters on March 20. A new trailer showcases Chung, as well as costars Beau Bridges and Matt O’Leary.  [The Film Stage]
