Movie News: Paul Bettany Shares New 'Avengers' Photo; 'Expendables' Writer Tapped for 'Wonder Woman 2'

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers: Infinity War: Just last week, we learned that Paul Bettany (above in Avengers: Age of Ultron) had joined the cast of the Han Solo Star Wars movie via director Ron Howard. Now Bettany has shared a mysterious photo of himself in costume as his Avengers character Vision (below), though he doesn't state if it's from Avengers: Infinity War, now in post-production, or the upcoming and untitled fourth Avengers installment. Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman 2: Writer Dave Callaham (Doom, The Expendables) has come on board the sequel to Wonder Woman. He will join director Patty Jenkins (above with Gal Gadot) and producer Geoff Johns to write the screenplay; Jenkins and Johns have been working on the preliminary treatment for several months. Jenkins and Callaham previously worked together on the script for a thriller titled Jackpot. As to the sequel, Jenkins has hinted that she wants to feature Wonder Woman's famed invisible jet and move the setting to the Cold War period. [THR]


Medicine for Melancholy

If Beale Street Could Talk: Kiki Layne will star in the next film from Academy Award-winning director Barry Jenkins (Moonlight; Medicine for Melancholy, above). If Beale Street Could Talk is based on James Baldwin's novel about a young woman who must prove that her lover is innocent after he is falsely accused of rape. Layne was chosen from among more than 300 women who auditioned for the lead role. [Variety]


Chasing the Dragon

Chasing the Dragon Trailer: Based on a true story, Donnie Yen stars as a drug kingpin in Chasing the Dragon. Set in Hong Kong in 1963, the movie follows an illegal immigrant's path as he carves out a criminal empire under the watchful eye of a corrupt cop (Andy Lau).
