Movie News: Nicolas Cage May Catch a Killer for William Friedkin; 'All of Me' Remake; ‘Frankenweenie’ Clip

Sep 12, 2012

Nicolas Cage and William Friedkin: Continuing on his recent career path, Nicolas Cage will star in I Am Wrath, and what could make the action-thriller really special is the possible participation of legendary director William Friedkin (The French Connection, Killer Joe), who is “circling” the project. Cage will play a recent widower who decides to take the law into his own hands after the police are unable to catch his wife’s killer(s). [Deadline]

All of Me Remake: Producer John Davis (Chronicle, Mr. Popper’s Penguins) is developing a remake of All of Me, the very funny 1984 body-switching comedy that starred Lily Tomlin as a rich woman who transfers her soul from her dying body to that of a rather goofy attorney, played by Steve Martin. The remake would feature a man who transfers his soul to a woman which, these days, passes as a highly original concept. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Hope and Glory Sequel: Director John Boorman (Deliverance) drew from his own experiences as a child in London during World War II to make the acclaimed drama Hope and Glory in 1987. Now he’s ready to make a sequel, entitled Queen and Country, which will pick up the story years later; Caleb Laundry Jones (X-Men: First Class) is in negotiations to star. [Variety]

Frankenweenie Clip: A science teacher, voiced by Martin Landau, imparts a lesson about lightning to his young students in a newly-released clip from Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, a black-and-white stop-animated feature that looks simply delightful. It’s due in theaters on October 5. [Collider]
