The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Guardians of the Galaxy: Villains are very important in superhero movies, and it looks like Marvel has found one it likes for next year's Guardians of the Galaxy. Lee Pace, who was under consideration for the starring role won by Chris Pratt, is now in final negotations to play the villain, who has still not been identified by character name. Pace appeared briefly in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and starred in the TV series Pushing Daisies. [The Wrap]

Woody Allen: By tradition, Woody Allen doesn’t reveal much of anything about his movies in advance; often, even the title is kept a secret. So we can pass on word that Emma Stone is in talks to star in his next movie and that the project will probably be shot on location in the South of France, and that’s all we know. Stone is a very busy lady, with multiple films vying for her attention, but actors are usually more than happy to carve out time to work with the legendary filmmaker. [Deadline]

50 Shades of Grey: Producers of the upcoming adaptation of steamy best seller 50 Shades of Grey are promising a steamy film, which may discourage some potential directors, but not Gus Van Sant (Milk). Evidently, Van Sant really, really wants to direct the film version, so much so that he took the initiative to shoot a “steamy sex scene” with dreamy Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike) as lead character Christian Grey and an unidentified actress as the heroine, even though the studio maintains that the project is not ready to begin casting or locking in a director. The Bling Ring Trailer: “I wanna rob.” Emma Watson, who not so long ago made fun of the idea that she might star in 50 Shades of Grey, shows just how far she’s willing to go in the first full trailer for Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring. Based on a true story, the movie follows a group of teens in Los Angeles who robbed celebrity homes. It hits theaters on June 14. [HitFix]
